Fractional CMO · Outsourced CMO · Denver and nationwide
You do not need another vendor.
You need someone who owns the number.
Agencies deliver work and report on the work. A chief marketing officer is responsible for whether the phone rings. If you cannot justify one at full price — and most companies your size cannot — you rent the thinking instead of buying the salary.
The strategy
Where the budget goes, which channels get built, what gets killed. Decided with you, then defended with evidence rather than opinion.
The build
I do not hand the work to a junior. The sites, the systems, the chatbots and the agents get built by the same person who sold you the plan.
The number
Qualified leads, closed revenue, cost per acquisition. Not impressions, not rankings screenshots, not a monthly deck nobody reads.

What the first 90 days
would actually look like
Pick the situation that sounds most like yours. This is genuinely how I sequence an engagement, not a teaser that ends in a form.

The arithmetic nobody does
What a full-time marketing
hire really costs you
These are your numbers, not mine — move them to match what you would genuinely pay. I am not going to quote you a statistic you cannot check.
Then add the part nobody puts in the spreadsheet: the months the seat sits empty while you interview, and the risk that the person you hire turns out to be wrong for you. Fractional exists because that risk is expensive and largely avoidable.
And you still have to manage them.
Loaded first-year cost
Roughly $14,075 a month, every month, whether or not it works.
A fractional engagement is a fraction of that, and it starts producing in week one instead of month four. Tell me the situation and you get a real number.
The visibility side of the job
Five surfaces. One answer: you.
Your buyer does not search anymore, they ask. Ranking on one surface out of five is not being found — it is being lucky.
Classic search
The blue links. Still the largest single source of buying traffic, and still where trust gets built before anyone calls.
The map pack
Three listings above everything else. For a local business this is the whole game, and it is won with profile work, reviews and proximity signals rather than blog posts.
AI Overviews
Google answers the question before the links load. If you are not inside that answer, the click never happens at all.
Generative engines
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok. They name a handful of companies and move on. Being one of the handful is engineered, not accidental.
Agentic search
An assistant shortlists vendors and acts for the buyer. Your site has to be readable by something that never once looks at your design.
Short answer: A fractional CMO is a senior marketing leader you share instead of hire. I set the strategy, build the lead generation systems, train the sales side and stay accountable for the number — for a fraction of a full-time chief marketing officer. The questions I get asked
A fractional CMO is a senior marketing leader you share instead of hire. I set the strategy, decide where the budget goes, build the systems that generate leads, train the people who answer the phone, and stay accountable for the number. The difference from an agency is ownership: an agency delivers a service, a CMO owns the outcome.
An agency sells you a deliverable and reports on the deliverable. I am responsible for whether the phone rings. That means I will tell you to stop spending on something that is not working, even when that something is a line item you are paying me for. It also means I build in-house capability rather than making you dependent on me forever.
It is quoted to the engagement: how many hours a month, how much of the build I am doing personally, and whether there is a team to manage. There is no published rate because a two-person shop and a twelve-state operation need completely different amounts of me. What I will say is that the whole point of fractional is that it costs a fraction of a full-time hire, and you can work out your own full-time number with the calculator on this page.
Long enough to be useful. Ninety days is the minimum honest window to build systems and see whether they move, and most engagements run longer because compounding is the entire point. If you need a one-off project rather than ongoing leadership, say so and I will scope it that way instead.
Usually the opposite. Most in-house marketers are perfectly capable and have simply never been given a strategy, a budget rationale or a senior person to check their thinking against. I would rather make your existing person better than make them redundant.
No, and be very careful with anyone who does. Google's own guidance says nobody can guarantee a number one ranking, and nobody can guarantee revenue either, because your offer, market, competition, pricing and fulfilment all matter as much as marketing does. What I promise is that I put your business first, work on it as if it were my own company, give you every bit of skill and technology I have, and genuinely try to grow it.
Companies that are past the scrappy stage and feel the absence of senior marketing thinking - usually somewhere between a million and thirty million in revenue, or smaller if you are growing fast. If you are pre-revenue, a fractional CMO is probably not what you need yet, and I will say so.
Yes. I am in Denver and work with companies across all 50 states and internationally, including Belize, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Hawaii, in English and Spanish.
